She’s just 17 years old, but already Melbourne-based artist JACOTÉNE is wowing critics and audiences with her powerful take on classic soul sounds.

After stunning the judges to take out Triple J’s Unearthed High prize in 2022 she’s taken the stage at Laneway, played to sold out crowds at her London debut, lined up appearances at The Great Escape and Neighbourhood Weekend festivals in the UK.

Inspired by artists as diverse as Toots and the Maytals, Gorillaz, Adele, and Amy Winehouse – to whom she has drawn breathless comparisons – the teenage singer seemed to emerge from nowhere with her debut single, “I Need Therapy (Demo)”, a song powered by a richly textured, old-school voice that stopped listeners dead in their tracks.
